The following item was published in the Bolivar Free Press on Thursday, 5 March, 1964. Death Comes to Harriet Jane Fox at the Age of 100 Mrs. Harriet Jane Fox, one of the oldest residents of Polk County, died early Monday (2 March 1964) at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Pierce, west of Fair Play, after a lingering illness. She was the widow of J. A. Fox, a former judge of the Polk County Court and a former postmaster at Fair Play. She had reached the century mark in years. Mrs. Fox was a charter member of the Fair Play Methodist Church. Survivors include another daughter, Miss Mary Fox of Nevada, two sons, Willard Fox of Fair Play and Clifford Fox of Visalia, California; two grandchildren; and twelve great -grandchildren. Harriet Jane Rentfrow Fox died 2 Mar 1964. Daughter of Nancy Jane and Peter Rentfrow. She was born in Sentinel, Missouri 18 July 1863 and passed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. D. L. Pierce (Ruth) of Fair Play, Missouri 2 March 1964 at the age of 100 years, 7 months, 13 days. On 28 March 1888 she was united in marriage to James A. Fox. To this union was born 8 children: three girls and 5 boys. She lived most of her life in Polk county, Missouri. She was converted at an early age and her life was spent serving God and her family. She was the widow of J. A. Fox, a former judge of the County Court and Postmaster of Fair Play. Mrs. Fox was the last charter member of the Fair Play Methodist Church. Survivors include Mary of Nevada, Missouri; Clifford Fox of Visalia, California; Willard Fox and Mrs. D. L. Pierce of Fair Play, Missouri. Four grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great -great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Grace F. Miller, three sons, James A. Fox, Visalia, California, Teddy Fox and an infant son preceded her in death. References
