In History of Polk County a Silas Fox is mentioned as being amont the first settlers of Madison Township.


It is also noted that Silas bought land in 1843 and 1844 in Township 33, Range 24. A John Fox bought land in 1838 in Township 34 , Range 24. In 1839, James, Elijah and Silas all bought land in this township. In 1844, W.N. Fox bought land in this township.


Thomas Fox was a judge of the county court for 6 years in 1866.
