1994 - Geelong News, Tuesday 5 April 1994: "Last week belonged to Geelong's centenarians as two special women joined the exclusive 100-year club. Mrs Harriet Harvey and Mrs Madeline Reed spoke to the "News" about their long and happy lives, Mrs Harvey, who lives at Kalkee Community in Belmont, said she never thought she'd make it to 100. "But my son told me he knew I'd make it to 100 because only the good die young," she said, Mrs Harvey is known to family and friends as having a remarkable sense of humour. Harriet Gillett was born in Shelford, the second youngest of nine children. She married John Harvey in 1925 and the young couple moved to Moriac as the first people to run the general store. Mrs Harvey was once the Moriac correspondent for the "Geelong Advertiser" and as payment she received her daily paper free. Mrs Harvey is a keen Scrabble player and her children said they had never seen her beaten. She was thrilled with the swag of official mail sent to centenarians - especially the letter from the Queen. But on that from Paul Keating [Labor Prime Minister] failed to impress. "Who's Keating?" she said. "I don't know him." "
