Geelong Advertiser: "The death occurred in a private hospital recently of Mr Charles Alfred Gillett. For the past six months the late Mr Gillett has been in indifferent health, but a fortnight ago it became apparent that he was getting worse. Although this was realised by those in close contact with him his death came as a shock to his relatives and many friends in Shelford and surrounding district. The late Mr Gillett was born in the district, and since his marriage 26 years ago had resided in Shelford. During this time he was for 20 years correspondent of the school committee; and at the time of his death he held the position of secretary to the Shelford Cricket Club, Hall Committee, and of the Shelford Common. The sympathy of the people of Shelford and district goes out to his widow and daughters, his aged parents, sisters and brothers, who are left to mourn their loss."
