September 1935, Caldwell County News newsclipping Gave Bountiful Shower After the continued shower of needed rain Saturday and Sunday Kingston community followed up with another bountiful shower Tuesday night when fifty or sixty people gathered at the new home of the newly weds, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Esteb, and left everything from a skillet to a set of dishes. The dining table was piled high with gifts and after much visiting and congratulations the "birds of the nest" were made to open their gifts so that everyone could see what had been given. Kingston is well noted for gifts at the showers for its newlyweds and in the shower of Tuesday night the record was well kept, as the many gifts were valuable and practical.

Caldwell County News, February 7, 1940 Esteb Files for Office The 1940 political campaign was opened here this week when Harold F. Esteb filed for office Wednesday with County Clerk Geilker. The official announcement is also being run in the county papers this week. Mr. Esteb needs but little introduction to voters of Caldwell county as he is acquainted with hundreds of them in different ways, especially in the probate office at the court house. He has been the efficient clerk for Judge D. O. Love and is the present clerk for A. B. Cleaveland. The new candidate for office is a Kingston product, grew up in this community, educated in the Kingston schools and in the school of hard knocks. For several years he was chief clerk in the Ab Howard store here, where he gleaned a lot of good business experience. In the probate office he has continued with business experience and efficiency until he is a very capable and promising candidate for the office which he seeks, that of County Treasurer and Ex-Officio Collector. In entering the race for this office, Mr. Esteb asks and seeks the support of his many friends and acquaintances over the county and of those whom he has not yet met. He plans a county-wide campaign and expects to meet every voter possible. If he is successful in the race and becomes the next county treasurer, he promises to give his full time and attention to the office duties and to care for every detail of the office as efficiently and as promptly as is possible.
