Obituary

OBITUARY—ESTEB Marvin Abijah Esteb, son of John M. and Lillie Esteb, was born Feb. 13, 1900 at Kingston, Mo. Departed this life, April 9, 1943, at St. Joseph, Mo., after a lingering illness at the age of 43 years, 1 month and 23 days. He leaves to mourn his going, his mother, Mrs. Lillie Esteb of Kingston; his father, John M. Esteb of California; and one sister and two brothers, namely Mrs. Forest Hill, Mont B. and Harold F. Esteb all of Kingston; also three nephews and one niece. He grew to young manhood in Kingston, attending the high school here. At 18 years of age he moved to St. Joseph, Mo., and up until his recent illness was employed by different industries in that city, among which was the Morris (Armour) packing plant and the Associated Grocers. He was of a cheerful disposition and made many friends who will miss him. The family has the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement. THE VALLEY OF SORROW I came to the Valley of sorrow And dreary it looked to my view But Jesus came waling beside me And sweetly we journeyed it through. And now I look back to that valley As the fairest that ever I trod, For I learned there the love of my Father I leaned on the arm of my God. Yes, as I look back to the valley From the crest of its glory crowned hill I call it my valley of blessing So peaceful it lieth—so still And sweeter its calm to my spirit Than the chorus of jubilant song. This there that the mourners find comfort, Tis there that the weak are made strong. O fair is the valley of sorrow God’s tenderest angels are there It’s shadows are lighted by patience And sweet with the fragrance of prayer. Tired hearts gather strength in the valley And burdens once heavy grow light Ah, sweet are the “Songs of the Sunshine” But sweeter the “Songs of the Night” Oh beautiful Valley of Sorrow So holy, so calm and so blest Thy ways are the fairest I travel Which was the best of the paths that I trod, This side of the land of my rest. And if some day the Father should ask me How quickly my heart shall make answer The valley of sorrow, O God. Card of Thanks We wish to thank each and everyone for their kindness and sympathy shown us in the recent bereavement and loss of our brother and son. Also for the floral offerings. Your kindness will long be remembered. Mrs. Lillie Esteb & Family
