Hannah's family presumably came from the Isle of Wight and was a "family of noble extraction". All of her people were massacred in Indian uprisings in the Wyoming Valley area of Pennsylvania in OCT 1753. She escaped to the home of Christian Rinker; he adopted her; and she later married his son, John.
