Memorial Services held Sunday for Hannah Hertsel

Mrs. Hannah May Hertsel, 80, of rual route 2, South Whitley passed away last Thursday afternoon (March 10, 1966) at 3:35 o'clock at the Linvill Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for fifteen days following surgery.

Mrs. Hertsel was born April 20, 1885, in Whitley County, a daughter of Willis Albert and Mary Elizabeth Helspher Walker. On September 4, 1906 she was united in marriage to Glancy Otis Hertsel and following their marriage they went into housekeeping in Union township. Mr. Hertsel passed away November 7, 1942.

Mrs. Hertsel attended the first Evangelical United Brethren Church in Columbia City and was a member of the Royal Neighborhood Lodge.

Survivors include one son, Lewis Hertsel, at home; seven daughters, Mrs. Spurgeon Egolf of Elkhart; Mrs. Marjory Engle, Akron; Mrs. Harry Babcock, Fort Wayne; Mrs. Allan Shand, Richland Township; Mrs. William Waymire, Greenville, Ohio; Miss Almeda Hertsel and Miss Vernagene Hertsel, both at home; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four brothers, Allen Walker, Union Township; Willard Walker, Bert Walker and Lee Walker, all of Columbia City. Two brothers and one sister have preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the J. A. DeMoney and Son funeral Home in Columbia City with the Rev. Russell B. Gotz, pastor of the Oak Grove Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was made in South Park Cemetery.
