Hannah King was baptised on 28th June 1807 at St Albans in Hertfordshire, daughter of a straw plaiter named Mary King, formerly Arnold, and her husband Thomas King, a labourer. Hannah was the second of the couple's five children. Less than eighteen months after Hannah's baptism the family moved eleven miles north to Caddington, where the younger three children were born.

Early in 1826, both Hannah's father and older brother William died at about the same time. Hannah only survived her father and brother by about eighteen months; she died aged 20 and was buried at Caddington on 18th June 1827.
