Hvem var foreldre til denne Gustav, som giftet seg med en Trondhjemmer. Kunne det være Gustav Henriksen Solie, som reiste til USA i 1887 som 21åring?Gustav came to Appleton and worked for Kimberly Clark at the Atlas Mill in Neenah, what year he retired I don't recall must have been in the early 50's. I remember wc lived with Kim after Uncle Riley and Aunt Carole got married, we lived at 719 E.Brewster. After Jeff (my brother) was born we all moved to 2012 N. Owaissa St. Grandpa was retired than, he helped my dad build the garage to our house, our house cost $10,500 in 1954 or was it 1953 1 know it was after Jeff was born. He con tinued tolive with us until after I was married in 1959, sometime around 1969 or so he got the shingles and when he came home from the hospital mom and dad had found Kim an apartment, it was on Commercial St near Drew. Close to where Axel and Ellen had lived. After sometime the Oneida Heights complex was built and Grandpa qualified for that housing and he moved in there. I felt better having Kim in that complex, I did not like his apartment always left bad when I left there. I remember when we l ived onOwaissa St. he would go to CA and visit Aunt Mary and Uncle Al. Than in July of 1971 he had a stroke, he never went back to Oneida Heights after that, the only good thing that came from Grandpa's stroke was that other people at Oneida Heigh ts werewatched closer they implemented and program where they hung something on their door knobs at night and in the am took them off. Grandpa had his stroke in the night and they did not find him until noon time of the following day. Never was gr andpa againafter that, he could not talk. But he sure did enjoy it when I brought the kids to see Kim at the nursing home, he would get all excited and fling his arms. Upon his death it was almost a relief it was hard to see Kim like that, he looked a t peace when I saw Kim after his death. He was a good grandpa and enjoyed my children very much. |
