Education: First grade: September, 1919 Pittsboro, Hendricks, IN Skipped grade two Third grade: Muncie, Delaware, IN (first half of year) then moved to Indianapolis and went to Tudor Hall School for Girls Grades 4, 5, 6: School 66 Grades 7, 8: School 76 (new school built in the fall of 1924) Fall of 1926: New Bethel H.S., New Bethel (Indianapolis), Marion, IN. Graduated 24 April 1930 2 yrs. at Indiana Central College, Indianapolis, IN Occupation: Interior Decorator. Grace worked for her father at the Hicks Furniture Mart in Indianapolis (private secretary 1938). Later she and Archer owned and operated the business. As a decorator, she owned her own business for many years and later served as vice president for Kittle's Furniture Company of Indianapolis, retiring from Kittle's in 1973. She also owned and operated the "Gift Tree" in Wanamaker, IN. Grace was the pianist for many years at the New Bethel Baptist Church at which time her mother was choir director. When Archer became the pastor at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Pleasant View, Shelby County, IN, she was the choir director there for more than thirty years.
