Occupation: Started as a student minister in October, 1932 at Pleasant View Baptist Church, Pleasant View, Shelby County, IN. Became pastor of Fairland Baptist Church in Fairland, IN also in 1933 on a part-time basis, alternating Sundays at the two churches. Ordained at New Bethel Baptist Church on 19 May 1934. Also was bookkeeper at Hicks Furniture Mart, Indianapolis, Marion, IN 1938. Ended ministry at Fairland in 1947 and continued at Pleasant View. Owned and managed Hicks Furniture Mart, 311 East Washington St., Indianapolis, IN which he purchased from Chester Curtis Hicks, his father-in-law. He sold the furniture business and became a full-time pastor at Pleasant View on 1 April 1961. He retired in December, 1973 from the ministry at Pleasant View and became Pastor Emeritus.
