Glover is said to have “commanded a Company of Campbell Militia against the British at the Burning of Norfolk in 1814, died in battle.” Except that Norfolk did not burn in the War of 1812; the British were diverted in the Battle of Craney Island in 1813 and did not return. Tax list in Charlotte Co
Tax lists in Campbell Co in 1817 list “Glover Davenport of Charlotte, 400 Acres on Cub Creek, 18 miles SE of Court House” and “Glover Davenport Estate, 250 Acres on Whipping Creek, 546 Acres on Whipping Creek, 15 miles SE of Court House.” |
