A truck hit the home of Glenn A Lemon of 739 Chestnut St when the truck’s brakes failed. It tore out a window and a section of the house from the floor to the ceiling; some furniture was also damaged. Fireman called to the scene by Mr. Lemon placed a tarpullin over the damaged section. The truck was later removed under its own power.

Glenn Lemon was one of the east side residents who brought a complaint against Lee and Helen Richtor over closing off the alley behind his property. Defendants had obstructed the alley with a wire fence, playground equipment and signs. Later the court issued a restraining order (22 Dec) forcing the defendants to clear the alley for public use.

Mrs. Agnes G. Stitt 86 of 739 Chestnut St, died at 8:15 AM today in Overlook Medical Clinic in New Wilmington following an illness. She was born in Lawrence County on 11 July 1887 t the late Robert R and Mary Pattison Boggs, a pioneer family of this area. Mrs. Stitt was the oldest member of the Reformed Presbyterian church and the last of her family. She was married first to Harry Lemon who preceded her in death and she subsequently married James Stitt who also preceded her in death. She is survived by a son Glenn A of New Castle with whom she made her home and one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends will be received at the Robert A Myers Home for Funerals, 208 Jefferson St from 7-9 PM tomorrow. The service at the funeral home conducted at 1:30 PM by Rev Joseph Caskey of the Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church and Rev Joseph Hill of Beaver Falls. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.

The home of Glenn Lemon at 739 Chestnut St was broken into by burglars who were frightened off as Lemon descended the stairs of his 2-story home to telephone the police. A planter was knocked over and a window broken but nothing else was taken. The thieves escaped through the cellar.

Glenn A. Lemon, 91, of the Overlook Medical Clinic, New Wilmington, formerly of 739 Chestnut St, retired in 1963 after 42 years with US Steel Corp in Youngstown, died in the Jameson Memorial Hospital at 6:35 AM on 13 Nov 1987 after a lingering illness.

He was born in New Castle on Aug 1, 1896 to Harry A and Agnes Boggs Lemon. Mr. Lemon’s father was the grandson of Robert and Mary Pattison Boggs, a pioneer family in Lawrence County. [I think this should read Mr. Lemon was the grandson of Robert and Mary Pattison Boggs.]

Mr. Lemon graduated with honors from New Castle High School in Class of 1915. He then taught school in Shenango Township for one year at the *ehner School. He was a life-long member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of New Castle and served as Bible teacher and on the Board of Elders until his death. He was active member of the American Association of Retired Persons and was a donor to the City Rescue Mission. Surviving are 2 second cousins, William Boggs and Mrs. William Davies, both of Sharon. He was preceded in death by his parents. Calling hours and time of service at the Reynolds Mortuary Inc, 1102 Highland Avenue, will be announced Tomorrow. The Rev Harold Harrington, pastor of Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church will conduct the service. Interment will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
