Gladys C. Ames Palmo, 89, of 825 South Main Street (Presbyterian Senior Care Center) Washington, formerly of California, died at 1:10 p.m. Friday, March 25, 1994, in Washington Hospital.
Born August 15, 1904, in Bentleyville, she was a daughter of Newton and Leona Vernon Crumrine.
Mrs. Ames worked as a teacher and principal in the Centerville and California school districts, retiring after 32 years of service.
She was a graduate of California Normal College, now known as California University of Pennsylvania, and also attended West Virginia University, Morgantown, W. Va.
While living in California, she was an active volunteer for the Salvation Army and a member of Vestaburg United Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are one stepdaughter, Cassie Ann Prado of Upper St. Clair; three stepsons, Maxwell Palmo of Newell, W. Va., Duane Palmo of Columbus, Ohio, and Dr. A.J. (Pete) Palmo of Bethlehem; nine step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her first husband, William Ames; her second husband, Powell S. (Pal) Palmo; and one brother, Thomas Crumrine.
