Powell s. (Pal) Palmo, 74, of 1459 Donnan Avenue, Washington, formerly of Centerville, died at 12:05 p.m. Monday, May 18, 1981, in Washington Hospital.
He was born March 28, 1907 in Tunnelton, a son of Joseph and Charlotte Litzenbigler Palmo. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Vestaburg.
Before his retirement, Mr. Palmo was employed by the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp. and was a self-employed auto mobile mechanic. He also taught at the Youth Development Center in Canonsburg.
Mr. Palmo helped organize Pony League Baseball and was active in the organization for 30 years.
He was a member of the Beallsville Lodge No 237 F&AM, the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, the Consistory of Pittsburgh, the Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, and the Beallsville-Centerville-Richeyville Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Ames Palmo, one daughter, Mrs Cassie Ann Prado of Lima, Peru; three sons, Maxwell Palmo of Newell, W. Va., Duane Palmo of Columbus, Ohio, and Dr. Artis (Pete) Palmo of Wayne, two brothers, Doyle Palmo of Blairsville and Duane Palmo of Fredericktown; two sisters, Mrs. Iola Bridgen of Danville, Va., and Mrs. Adeline Young of Blairsville; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
His first wife Louise Coulter Palmo, died April 1, 1975. A sister, Opal Hazlett, and a brother, Virgil, are also deceased.
