He owned land near Woodstock, Michigan. The "Bible & Genealogical Records of Lenawee Co.", 1939, apparently indicate that he settled near the Friends' Meeting House.
They transfered from Woodstock, Michigan area meeting to Bloomington, Iowa.

20th day of the 7th month 1819 (page 377) Gideon Lupton requests a certificate to Smithfield monthly meeting in order for marriage with Susannah Carr a member of that meeting. Merrick Starr & Emmor Baily are appointed to make the needful enquiry and if no obstruction appears produce one to next meeting.
24th day of the 8th month 1819 (page 379) The committee to prepare a certificate for Gideon Lupton produced one which was approved & signed.
9th day of the 6th month 1820 (page 417) The committee to prepare A certificate for Gideon Lupton produced one which was approved & signed.
23rd day of the 7th month 1822 (page 452) A Certificate was received for Gideon Lupton Susannah his wife & their two minor children Viz. Sarah and Margaret from Smithfield Monthly Meeting dated the 20th of the 5fth last which was excepted.
