Church Book Obituary: Mother Gertrude Gemmer nee Bender died October 6, 1873 at noon, in the home of her son Heinrich, at the age of 72 years, 11 months, and 359 days (6 days less than 73 years). She was born October 2, 1801 in Gulzhausen, Nassau, Germany. She entered holy matrimony with Johann Georg Philipp Gemmer in 1824 and lived in harmonious marriage for 30 years. Her marriage was blessed with 6 children. Her beloved husband died in 1854 and 2 children also preceded her into eternity. She lived as a quiet widow for 19 years, a devout disciple of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Sunday, September 30, Harvest Festival, she partook of Holy Communion in church. She was bedfast only a few days, died of a wasting fever, leaves 2 sons and 2 daughters married and 22 grandchildren. She was buried Wednesday October ? (date not clear). Funeral Text: Rev. 14:13.
