He graduated from Marietta College, was a veteran of the Air Force, and was an insurance agent in Hartford. Like his brother, he was a frequent sailor. Like his father and an uncle, he was a talented pianist. But George is remembered particularly for his great sense of humor and lively and cheerful disposition. Because he suffered from serious respiratory problems from birth, he developed a particularly close relationship with his Aunt Ethel Dunham, a physician.
