    George Ralph, Jr. Obituary

    George Ralph Jr., 86, of Springfield, died at 3:20 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2011, at St. John's Hospice.

    George was born May 30, 1924, in Springfield, IL, the son of George and Mable Hesse Ralph. He married Loretta Myers on September 4, 1948 in Springfield, IL.

    George was a Class of 1942 graduate of Cathedral Boys High School and went on to serve our country in the Navy during WWII. He worked for the United States Postal Service and retired after 20 years of service in 1984. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Caregivers through St. John's Hospital and was a regular blood donor.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Marquerite Ralph, Donna Kunz, Mary Louise Ralph and Teresa Deschene; and four brothers, Robert, Tom, Jim and John Ralph.

    He is survived by his wife, Loretta Ralph of Springfield; three sons, Richard (wife, Debbie) Ralph of Tulsa, OK, David (wife, Marilyn) Ralph of Des Moines, IA and Michael (wife, Yvonne) Ralph of Chatham; three daughters, Carol Ann (husband, Michael) Gavin of Sherman, Diana Marie (husband, Matt) Davis of Springfield and Marianne Ralph of Springfield; two sisters, Ellen Dahlkamp of Springfield and Rita Ann Stringer of Belleville, IL; twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    George's remains have been donated to science, even in death he is helping others.

    A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton, Springfield, with Rev. Richard Chiola, celebrant.

    Burial will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
