Paris Beacon News, May 8, 1971 Looking Back In Beacon-News Files Forty-Six Years Ago The small son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Phipps, Ashmore, and grandson of H.F. Pinnell, Kansas, escaped drowning when he fell into a cistern at the home of George Ogle at Ashmore.

    Ashmore --The death of George (Jack) Ogle, 82, occurred Wednesday afternoon at the residence here after an extended illness.
    Born at Ashmore July 23, 1883, he was the son of Atkin and Emily Gilbert Ogle. He leaves the widow, formerly Irma Brown; two sons, Clarence of Philadelphia, Pa., and Harold of Detroit also six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a member of Ashmore Presbyterian Church.
    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Presbyterian Church and burial will be at Ashmore Cemetery. Friends may call at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, Charleston, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
