Roster of NC Confederate Soldiers; "Born in Mecklenburg Co. and resided in Iredell, where he was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting at Age 21, July 22, 1861, for the war. Mustered in as Corporal and promoted to Sargeant on April 5, 1862. Promoted to 1st Sargeant on July 1, 1863. Company muster rolls indicate he was wounded or captured at Gettysburg, PA July 1-5, 1863; however, records of the Federal Provost Marshal do not substantiate this report. Rejoined the company in Jan.-Feb. 1864, and was wounded at Well's Farm, VA, June 22, 1864. reported absent wounded through Oct. 1864. Parolled at Appamattox Court Hous, VA, April 9, 1865.
