Cecelia's research: Ohio H36 Ohio #3C (?) At 17 or 18 fought with General Harrison. Caught camp or swamp fever which crippled him for life.

"George Morehead. My grandad was in the War of 1812 at the age of 16 years when he volunteered. Was under General Harrison. He fot at Wilderron and at lower Sendworkey Fort Defiance and along the Momee River."

Moved to Huron county in about 1831 and moved into Lyme township about 1832

Death: Huron County Death Records, Vol 1 pg 37. Blacksmith, single, widowed, born in Harrison, Va, died of old age.

History of Huron & Erie Counties - Ohio, pg. 385 George Morehead moved from Harrison Co. W. Va to Huron in 1832. Moreheads in Hunt's Corners in 1842.

"George was born 13 Jan 1795 in Harrison Co., Va. died 2 May 1873 at Hunts Corners, Huron County. He was a soldier in the war of 1812 with General Harrison in Northwest Ohio after the war he went to Hocking County, Ohio, then to Richland County, then to Huron County in 1832 and lived at Hunts Corners since 1842. He was crippled by a fever contracted in the war. His oldest son George went to the civil war and was never heard from."

When a mere boy of seventeen Mr. Morehead enlisted under Gem. Harrison in the struggle of that day with the British and Indians along the Maumee river, but was taken ill and sent home. He married Miss Charity Pattom, and by her had three children: Mary (Mrs. Heymann), Emily (wife of Joseph Morris, of Nebraska), and Andrew J. (a prominent resident of Huron county).
