  6. "Dessa's husband had a still. (during the depression and prohibition)They had house in Toledo and he had a still in the basement. I seen it.He made whiskey. They brought it down here and Laurent sold a couplegallons for him. The Bascom people there at the factory in Bascom likedwhiskey and Laurent knowed it. Of course they couldn't get any so whenthis George started making it and Lawrent said to him "I think I cansell a couple gallon for you ". He asked them guys there in Bascom,they said "heaven's yes" they each bought a gallon. Dessa's husband hada truck covered. It was all closed in. They came to our house when welived right near Bascom. The first place Laurent and I ever lived.They brought two gallons of whiskey and they left it there. Laurenttook it along to work with him. He just put it in a grocery sackcarried it up there and that was it. That is all he ever sold for themfar as I remember. He'd of really got in trouble if caught. My garsh,Laurent would of wet his pants, but he pitied George and Dessa theydidn't have enough money to survive.
