Nancy Cifers lives in Amelia Co., VA. She is the great granddaughter of George W Midkiff, Jr. Some of her research: George Washington Midkiff married 15 Dec 1852 in Forsythe, NC to Elizabeth Livengood, daughter of George Livengood. Elizabeth was born 13 Dec 1835. Elizabeth died 6 Jan 1915 in Carroll, VA. George was a soldier in the Confederacy. Lived in Laurel Fork and Hillsville, Carroll, VA. Some relatives here has a picture of George Washington Midkiff, Sr in his confederate uniform. "My daddy" told us that he [GWM, Sr.] said that he didn't want nay of his family to ever vote Democratic again after the war. "His daddy" [GWM, Sr.] was Isaiah Midkiff m 13 Sep 1826 to Elizabeth Mottley [Motley] in Pittsylvania Co, VA. Her grandmother was Margaret Farthing. The Midkiffs were Quakers in PA in the early colonial days. Nancy found 5 that fought in the Revolutionary War; 2 took oaths of allegiance in PA. Most of the information is from the family Bible and the rest is documented.
