About 1747, George and family moved to Edgecombe Co NC on the Roanoke River near Pork & Pretty Creeks. In 1754, this part of Edgecombe became Halifax Co. About the mid 1760's all but one of George's sons moved west to the part of old Rowan Co which is now Davison. About 1769, George & his wife Martha sold their land in Halifax Co and moved west to Rowan to join their sons. George died not long after.

Will of George Mabry written on 15 Dec 1770 in Rowan Co NC and present for probate 13 Feb 1771.
To beloved wife Martha during her widowhood all household good, livestock, 7 slaves

Son James a slave. James is to take care of daughter Luisa [Lusa] during her life as she is not able to take care of herself. After wife's decease all furniture & livestock to be sold to pay debts and the overage equally divided among daughters; Susanna Jackson, Bertha Carter, Sarah Williams, Martha Worde, and Frances Ellis
Dau Luisa is to have her featherbed.
    Signed: George (G) Mabry
    Wit: John Kimbrough, Mary Kimbrough
Appoint son James and wife Martha to be Executors.
[If there was a son Joseph, he was not named in this will. There is no disposition of land. Another man speculated as a son of George [and not mentioned in his Will] was the Francis Mabry found in Pittsylvania Co VA at this time - he was definitely still living in Pittsylvania Co in the late 1790's and I doubt this connection.]

GEORGE MABRY and Sarah WILLIAMSON were married.

Sarah Williamson was the daughter of John Williamson. When the heirs of John sold 280 acres of land in Brunsick Co VA to George Mabry in 1742, one of the signers of the deed was "Sarah Mabry". She has been assigned to both George Mabry & George Mabry Jr, but I think it has to be the older George.

BRUNSWICK CO VA DEEDS, Vol 1 1732-1745; Dr. Stephen E. Bradley, Jr., 1997
p.69 DB 2, p.204 2 Dec 1742 Hollum Sturdivant & his wife Elizabeth of Surry Co; John Rottenburry & his wife Susanna of same; Henry Ledbetter & his wife Edeth of Brunswick Co; Richard Fox & his wife Hannah alias Joanna; and Sarah Mabry sell to George Mabry of St. Andrew Parish in Brunswick Co for £30, 280 acres. The tract had been a patent to John Williamson dated 18 Feb 1722 & at his death fell to his daughters Elizabeth Sturdivant, Susanna Rottenburry, Edith Ledbetter, Hannah Fox, & Sarah Mabry. On S side Nottoway River joining the N side Rocky Run. Wit: M. Cadet Young, Moses Dunkley. Proved 2 Dec 1742.
[Sarah could not be selling this land to her husband. As her husband, it would already belong to him in "her right". She also would not be selling land as a married female. If she was married to the young George, and selling to the father, young George would have had to sign the deed as did the other husbands. This is evidently the granddaughter, heir of John Williamson, selling this land to her father.]

An abstract of this deed apparently appears as "Sarah Mabry late wife of George Mabry without mentioning the daughter. It would seem that Sarah has died and her spouse was a George Mabry - they had a daughter also named Sarah.
