Born probably in Beaver Co., PA since parents were married there in the year he was born. Married to Mary Derr in Wayne Co., OH in 1824. Died 12 March, 1863. His sister Martha was married to Davis Derr.

A woman who is researching the Johnstons e-mailed me and insisted that George's father was Martin Derr but I have a copy of a will of a William Johnston who says his eldest son is George and names our George's siblings also. This will stated his relationship to each child as "I bequeath to my daughter/son" except for his relationship to a William C. Johnston to whom he gave one dollar. I don't know who this William C. Johnston was.
