OBITUARY

MR. GEORGE ATKINS JOBSON.

We briefly referred in our last issue of the passing of Mr. George Atkins Jobson, in the Mayo Hospital on Sunday last, shortly after his admission. Deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jobson of Harrington, and was born at Mitchell's Island 63 years ago. His early days were spent on Mitchell's Island and at Upper Lansdowne. About 25 years ago he came to Taree and for about 13 years engaged in a taxi business. Some 12 years ago he went on to a farm at Moorland, and later went to Harrington, where he spent seven years. For the past three years he has lived with his daughter, Mrs. W. Foster, of Kundle Kundle. Mr. Jobson was a very keen footballer, and played in district competitions until he was over 40 years of age. He represented the Manning in inter-district fixtures, and was secretary of the League for a time. He was also an old member of the MUIOOF. He was a very keen rod fisherman. The late Mr. Jobson is kindly remembered by all who knew him. He was twice married. His first wife (nee Miss Elizabeth Groves, of Victoria), died in Taree 20 years ago. and his second wife (Mrs. Ruth Bale, of Taree) died at Harrington six years ago. Children of the first marriage are Messrs. Linton Jobson (Sydney), Al- lan (Cardiff), Melvie (Mrs. W. Foster, Kundle Kundle). and Annie (Mrs. Ballard, of Sydney). The surviving brothers and sisters are: Messrs. John Jobson Cundletown), Richard (Brighton), Robert (Coopernook), Mesdames Vic McCaffrey (Cundletown), Sam Burnes (Brighton), and Mary Wilkes (Cundle town). Mr. Jas. Jobson (Coff's Harbour) is a step-brother, and Mrs. Eileen Bailey (Mitchell's Island) is a step-sister. Two sisters, Mrs. Sam Johnston (Manly) and Mrs. Rachel Wilkes (Mitchell's Island) predeceased him. On Tuesday afternoon a service was conducted at the Scott's Creek Church, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Mitchell's Island cemetery. Rev. B. C. Dickson conducted the services at the church and cemetery, and Mr. S. W. Bridge was the undertaker.
