"LORAIN- The funeral service for Fred Hartsel, resident of Lorain 47years, will be Thursday at 11 AM in the Dombroski Funeral Home. TheRev. Paul Kirk will officiate. Burial will be in Polk Cemetery. Mr.Hartsel, 65, of 438 Iowa Avenue died Sunday at 9:20 PM in SamaritanHospital, Ashland, after an illness of three months. He was a native ofPolk. Mr. Hartsel retired three years ago after 38 years of service atLorain Works, United States Steel Corp., where he was a cranemaintenance man. He was a member of Sullivan Masonic Lodge 313 F&AM ofNova. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Dante [Janet] Mercurio, Lorain; twograndchildren; a brother, Scott of Massillon and three sisters, Mrs.Cletus Westlake, Ashland, Mrs. Harriet Sipkovsky, Lorain and Mrs. Marion[Margie] Houenstein, of Polk. Friends will be received at the funeralhome after 5 PM today and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM" ----- [Note: divorced at time of death, after an illness of three months]

"LORAIN- Fire caused about $5,000 damage to a two-story frame house at1132 "F" St. and its contents around 5:05am today. Fireman reported theblaze began in a davenport located in a first floor room of the house,occupied by Fred Hartsel, spread downward through the flooring and thenupward through the wall joints to the second story. Probable causelisted by the firemen was smoker's carelessness. No one was home whenthe fire was discovered. Firemen forced open two first floor doors togain entrance."
