!NAME: Mary Brown LaRocca, "The Robichaux Family of Acadia, Massachusetts, and Maine," in THE NEW ENGLAND HISTORICAL AND GENEALOGICAL REGISTER; vol. CXLIII, no. 569 (Jan 1989); p. 7. Francois was evidently known by a nickname, which may have had an Indian meaning. Listed as "Niganne" ROBICHAUD, he was forced to move from his property near the old fort at Port Royal, and in 1707 was living on the Cape of Port Royal near his brother Prudent. His property is shown on old mays, his name given as Nigan or Nighan ROBICHAUD. (Source cited: LES ROBICHAUD; HISTOIRE ET GENEALOGIE; Bathurst, New Brunswick, 1967; p. 199].
