Will of Francis Armstrong
- Francis Armstrong Will; Proved & Filed Oct. Court 1779.
- In the name of God Amen the thirtieth Day of September in the year of our Lord 1779, I Francis Armstrong of North Carolina in the county of Lincoln Being Very Sick and Weak in Body but of Perfect mind and Memory thanks be Given unto God therefore Calling unto mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for al men once to die Do make and ordain this my Last will and testament that is to say principal and first of all I Give and Recommend my soul into the hands of god that Gave it; and for my Body I Recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian Like and Decent manner at the Discretion of my Executors B[r]other Robert Armstrong of the one part and Brother Mathew Leeper of the other witnesseth that Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as to wihing? such worldly Estate wherewith it hath Pleased God to bless me in this Life I Give Devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
- Imprimis, it is my will and I do order that in the first place all my just Debts and funeral Charges be paid and satisfied.
- Item. I Give and bequeath unto Easter my well beloved wife all the household furniture the Big Bay mare and Colt and three Year old Colt with as mall? pay of hard money and in Cows and Calves all the rest to be sold at publick Vendue Except what she chooses for meat and stear or too and some hogs an the rest to be sold.
- Item, I Give and Bequeath to my well Beloved Brother James and Mathew Leeper the said peace of Land purchased and Enter'd by Francis Armstrong upon Rich Land Creek running into Big Chuchy Likewise one old Rifle Gun to same and the new Rifle gun to Nath. Leeper.
- I give and Bequeath to my Brother Robert's son Francis one Little Gray mare and Colt.
- Item. I Give and Bequeath to my well Beloved Arthur's son the Little Bay mare.
- Item. I Give and Bequeath to my well Beloved brother in Law John Leeper the Sortd? horse of the Gray mares.
- Item. I Give and Bequeath to my well beloved Brother John [Armstrong] Bond? Colt.
- Item. and all the rest of my affects
to be Divided into threeafter my Beloved wife has taken her share? out Part my beloved wife to have too parts and their? to be Equally Divided among the Reest of my Br to be sold at publik vendue that is Horses, Cows, hogs and Sheep likewise wagon and Gears are to be sold at publick Vendue and the money to be Divided into three Equal parts and my wife to have too [two] parts and the Rest to be Equally Divided Among the Rest of my Brothers and Sisters Likewise one hundred Weight of Bacon at six shillings a pound and Receive sixty dollars and the Rest is Remaing [Remaining?] Due.
