Christened Frances Louise Smith and generally known as Lutie. In 1900 she was living with her aunt Dora Theyson in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, aged 23, single and working as a dressmaker. Sometime between then and 1903 she moved to the Twin Cities in Minnesota with the rest of her family and met and married her husband, Christian J. Anderson. They had four children, but Christian died in 1918. For a time Lutie and her children lived with her mother and step-father, but then struck out on their own. She took in boarders. Later, between 1930 and 1942, they moved to Chicago.
