EVAN HARRIS, SENIOR was born in 1687 in Chichester, Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Evan was christened on June 10, 1697 in Ridley Creek, by Abel Noble, a Seventh-Day Baptist minister.

Evan was married to ELIZABETH UNDERWOOD in 1714.

Evan's will was probated August 15, 1728.

After Evan's death Elizabeth married WILLIAM WEBSTER on November 21, 1735.

Will of Evan Harris

Whereas Evan Harris of the Township of Kennet in ye County of Chester in ye Province of Pensilvania being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect memory and calling to mind ye certainty of death and uncertainty of life and knowing that it is appointed ones for all must dye do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say _______ and first of all my body I recommend to ye Earth to be buried in a Christian like manner as of discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as touching my worldly estate it has pleased God in His mercy to bless me, I give and dispose of in manner and form following:

Imprimus - after all my just debts and funeral expenses is fully paid and discharged. I give to my Dear and well beloved wife, Elizabeth, all my Real Estate forever, together with my plantation and all the profits ensuing there from during her widowhood in order to for educating and breeding my children hereafter named free from Diminution of any part left unto any or each of them. And my said Plantation I give to my son Daniel, when he arrives at ye age of twenty-one years, provided his mother remains not a widow and if she changes her condition before he arrive to age I then order the care of said Plantation to my executor for years performance as above said and if it prove a son which my wife is now with child, I then order my eldest son to pay him when arrived to age the sum of five pounds, but if my eldest son dye before he arrive to age leaving no issue yr yt yd Child now on born if a son ys same pay in to his sisters to witt, Mary, Elizabeth, Ann & Hannah . If the child unborn is a daughter yd full and yt sum of five pounds apiece within one year after he arrives to age or as many of his sd sisters as are arrived to the age of twenty-one years, which sums of five pounds I order to be paid by my eldest son if he lives to possess ye sd Plantation, but if all the male issue dye before age or without issue I then order ye value of ye sd Plantation to be equally divided between my surviving daughters.


Lastly - I nominate and appoint my truly and well beloved brothers, William, Harry and Thomas Speakman my said Executors for this my willful filled by me in every particular way as above directed and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and every other former Testament wills and legacies by me in any way before this sd named will and bequeathed only concerning this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 25th of 9th month 1727.

Indenture - Elizabeth Harris to Evan Harris This indenture made ye Twenty-Fifth Day of November in ye Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty seven, between Elizabeth Harris of ye Township of Kennett in ye County of Chester in ye Province of Pennsylvania, Widow of ye one part and Evan Harris of ye same place, Esq., of ye other part - for fifty pounds - one hundred seventy seven acres of land - James Atkinson from William Penn, then in 1707 to Hugh Harris - by will to Elizabeth Harris.

              Witnesses - William Webb, Elizabeth Eachus, Alexander Underwood, Thomas Speakman.
