To this union was born one child, Hazel, who still resides at home. Just a few months previous to her death, Mrs. Gillam suffered the loss of a brother and sister, which was a great blow to her and over which she worried a great deal. Six weeks ago she was taken seriously ill and soon became so serious that she was unconscious most of the time and could not be seen by neighbors and friends who desired to visit her. A special nurse was secured from Chicago and all that lay in human power in the way of physicians skill and careful nursing was done but in vain and she was released from her suffering last /friday. Mrs. Gillam will long be remembered in the community as a good neighbor, a kind friend and a lovoing mother and wife. She will be greatly missed by the daughter and husband who remain to mourn her loss. In additon to the husband and dtr, she is survivied by two half-brothers, Lyman and Lawrence Beard, of Whitley Co, a half sister, Mrs. POearl Brown of Allen Co and a stepmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Beard fo Roanoke. Mrs. Gillam was a member of the M.E. church at Jefferson Chapel and was loved and respected by the people of the community. Her sojourn on earth was not the allotted three score years and ten, but we believe in the time she was permitted to remain, she made her peace calling and election sure and was ready when the summons came.:
