While given in some genealogies, it appears "doubtful" that this person existed.[2][3]

  1. Euphemia of England, in Lundy, Darryl. The Peerage: A genealogical survey of the peerage of Britain as well as the royal families of Europe.
  2. Henry I, in Baldwin, Stewart, and Todd Farmerie. The Henry Project (King Henry II ): Ancestors of King Henry II.

Baldwin say her existence is "doubtful".

  3. daughter, in Cawley, Charles. Medieval Lands: A prosopography of medieval European noble and royal families.

Cawley notes that the contemporary sources he has consulted only mention two children of Henry and Matilda, and that the name "Euphemia" "appears improbable" for an eldest daughter of the couple. Weir, who names Euphemia as a child of Henry and Matilda in her Britain's Royal Families: The Complete Genealogy, does not cite a primary source.
