Etta was unmarried and shared an apartmentin St. Louis with her sister Cora during her adult life. When they were quite old, "the aunts" moved back to Jerseyville. 1880 census calls her Edna, 1900 census says Ettie. etta had a sledding accident as a teenager and is said to have hurt her back. She tended to live a passive semi-invalid lifestyle as an adult. She worked in Chicago for awhile as a file clerk and later worked along with her sister, Cora at the

Etta May Conklin was born on 19 February 1877 in Jerseyville (Jersey County), Illinois. Etta’s class was the first one to have a prom which was held at her home. Etta had a sledding accident as a teenager and is said to have hurt her back.. She tended to live a passive semi-invalid lifestyle as an adult. She worked in Chicago for awhile as a file clerk and later worked as a clerical worker along with her sister, Cora at the Frank Adams Electric Company (a manufacturer of switchboards) in St. Louis. Etta was very interested in her family’s history and collected some notes and materials from several sources. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School for many years. Etta was unmarried and shared an apartment in St. Louis with her sister Cora during her adult life. When they were quite old, "the aunts" moved back to Jerseyville. Etta died there on 13 April 1971 and is buried with her parents at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
