Cora Belle Conklin was born on 13 June 1880 in Jerseyville (Jersey County), Illinois. Cora was unmarried. She graduated from Jersey County High School and went to St. Louis, Missouri where she worked for the Frank Adams Electric Company (a manufacturer of switchboards) for many years. Cora advanced to the rank of Corporate Treasurer. She was a highly regarded businesswoman in St. Louis and was a member of the Altrusa Club, a society for women executives. She was a member of the Third Baptist Church in St. Louis. For many years, she and her sister, Etta shared an apartment in St. Louis. When they were quite elderly, they moved back to Jerseyville where Cora died on 7 September 1966. She is buried with her parents in the Conklin family plot at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
