Etta Chenoweth Wheeler, 98, of Parkersburg , formerly of Nicut (04/07/2004) Etta Chenoweth Wheeler, 98, of Parkersburg died April 5, 2004. She was born at Nicut, W.Va., in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late David Oscar and Mary Jane Knotts Chenoweth. She graduated from Calhoun County High School and Bowling Green Business University at Bowling Green, Ky. Following that she worked in the State Legislature and the State Tax Department in Charleston for 14 years. She and her husband later came to Parkersburg and opened a real estate company with his father, which is now known as Chenoweth Wheeler Realty Co. She later worked for the State Road Commission from which she retired after eight years of service. She was very active in the Democratic Woman's Club, the Civic Woman's Club and the Zonta Club. She was a 50-year member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She is survived by one brother, J. Wesley Chenoweth and his wife, Stella B., of Parkersburg; one stepson, Hoyt N. Wheeler of Columbia, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents , she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Wheeler; one infant daughter, Jane; her brothers, Thurl R., David W., Denver O. and Carl Chenoweth; three infant brothers; and a nephew, Carl, who was killed during a flying mission over Austria during World War II. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with burial in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
