Ethel remembered her grandma Pflueger wore wooden shoes when Ethel was a child. Grandma "J" as she became known to her grand-kids, was known for her fairness, love, and generosity. Everyone was welcome at her table. Her feats of stretching a meal for four into a meal for eight, will be remembered fondly. Ethel was an avid gardener, partly in self defense for the 'hordes' she usually had to feed. She took a lot of pride in her apple butter, which no one has been able to duplicate. She continued her father's passion for reading and discovery, amassing a respectable library for the children in her home.
