He was born a month after his grandfather Peter died. He had 12 children. We have a family tree of his relatives (including Kristoffer Karlsson), who took over ownership of Södergård after his death.

In 1930, Erik and Astrid bought their own farm in Ormesberga, about 2 miles from Tjureda. After only 5 years on the farm "Hult Vastregard", Erik became sick with kidney disease and passed away in 1935. At that time he was constructing a new building, and the foundation is still there today. Astrid was now alone with all the children, but with great energy and a huge amount of work, she made it through. At a family reunion in 2002, her children - now grown and retired - gave her a tribute to her life.
