OBITUARY: Idaho Statesman Feb. 13, 1974 P. 4-D Elwin Maine Knight Services for Elwin Maine Knight, 73, of 1000 North Liberty No. 22, who died Monday at a Boise Hospital after a brief illness, will be conducted at 2p.m. Friday at Relyea Mortuary by the Rev. Newell Morgan of the First Christian Church. Interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens. Born Jan. 9, 1901, In Clearlake, S.D. he attended schools at Fruitland and served in the U.S. Army from Aug. 8, 1918, to July 24, 1919, most of the period in France. He married Velva Relyea in Coeur d'Alene on Nov. 4, 1925. He began work for the Railway Mail Service, later called the Postal Transportation Service, at Spokane on March 6, 1924. In 1927, he moved from Spokane to Pocatello and continued with the Postal Transportation Service there for 30 years. He transfered back to Spokane in 1957, and to Seattle in 1958, where he was regional director of the service, retiring in 1962. Surviving are his wife, Velva, of Boise; a son, Bruce Knight of Salt Lake City; a daughter, Mrs. John R. (Jacqueline) Alderman of Yakima, Wash.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ed (Ruth) Brandel of Boise; and four brothers, Ralph and Lynn, both of Boise, Ray of New Plymouth and Kenneth of Casa Grande, Ariz. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death. Friends may call at Relyea Mortuary 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today and Thursday and until service time Friday. Family requests that donations be given to favorite charity in liew of flowers.
