    Funeral services for Mrs Elmira WHITMORE were conducted in the Methodist Church here Sunday afternoon by Rev. E. L. Peterson, assisted by Mrs. Peterson. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.
    Elmira BROWN was born in the State of Pennsylvania, near Elmira, New York, January 31, 1852. In the year 1864 she moved with her parents to Michigan. She was united in marriage to M. M. WHITMORE May 3, 1873. In 1881 Mr. Whitmore came to Nebraska and purchased a farm near Oakdale. Mrs. Whitmore and the two oldest sons, D. C. and Floyd, came in 1882. Here they made their home for 52 years, and during this time three more children were born, Nettie, Ralph and Roland.
    After the death of Mr Whitmore in 1930, she made her home with her daughter where she passed away on January 19, 1937, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 19 days. The two oldest boys, D. C. and Floyd preceded them in death.
    Three children survive, Mrs. J. C. Holmes of Lincoln, Ralph B Whitmore of Lodgepole and Roland M Whitmore of Ewing; also 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Thorp of Washington, Kansas and Mrs. Amanda Whitmore of Owasso, Michigan.
    Mrs. Whitmore was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, a kind neighbor and a friend to everyone, always seeing this places where a friend was needed and aiding them. She will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.

Session met again after preaching on Sabbath, March 10 [1867] when Henry Whitmore, Wealthy Whitmore, Lizzie Whitmore, Amanda Brown, Almira [sic] Brown and Mary Baldwin presented themselves for examination desiring admission to the church. Upon examination they were voted to be admitted. Accordingly after the baptism of T. Stiles, Henry Whitmore, Wealthy Whitmore, Lizzie Whitmore, Amanda Brown and Almira Brown, all the avove named candidates took the covenant and were received by the church, after which the ordinance of the Lord's Supper was celebrated.
