  10. Pension records give birth place as Brown Town, Pennsylvania. This was the family residence in Lycombing County. Military records show Tioga, Pennsylvania, which, from census records, is more likely.

(The cemetery book erroneously reports the death date as 2 May 1914. My photograph of the marker shows this to be 12 May.)

    Death Comes to Well-Known Resident of Saginaw After and Ilness of Months
    Dahiel H. Brown, veteran of the civil war an well-known citizen died early Tuesday morning at St. Mary's hospital from pneumonia. He had been ailing all winter but was not taken seriously sick until two weeks ago. Deceased was born in Pennsylvania Sept. 24 1847, and for many years was a resident of Flint, coming to Saginaw to reside 27 years ago. At the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted in Pennsylvania and was honorably discharged at the close. His wife died in 1900. He is survived by two children, Mrs L. W. Bixby and Clayton Brown, both of Saginaw, two brothers, John of Oklahoma and George M. Brown of Detroit; four sisters, Mr. A. J. Whitmore of Detroit; Mrs. E. Coquigne of Grand Blanc, and Mrs. Eli C. Throp and Mrs. M Whitmore of Nebraska. The body was taken to the home of Mrs. L. W. Bixby, 1812 North Bond street, where services will be held at a time to be announced.
