  5. Sad Death of F. H. Whitmore
The town of Basin and practically every individual in it sustained a distinct loss on Tuesday afternoon, wehen Mr. F. H. Whitmore passed away at the Basin Hospital after an illness extending over about two weeks.
Death was caused by a virulent infection which started in the root of a tooth on the right side and extended to the left side. Efforts were made to drain the infected parts, and everything that could be done toward giving relief was done without avail.
Floyd H. Whitmore was born thirty nine years ago near Flint, Mich. With his parents he moved to Oakdale, Nebr. at the age of three years, and resided at that place until he came to Basin seven years ago this month.
He was wedded at Oakdale fifteen years ago to Miss Ida Ralph, and she with four [sic -- three] children lives to mourn his loss.
Upon coming to Basin Mr. Whitmore opened a small shop for the repair of watches, clocks and jewelry. He had but a few dollars in cahs, but with that investment he so won the confidence and good will of our people that his business prospered from the first. Steadily added to his holdings until at the time of his death he had a good stock of Jewelry and with his family had just moved into a new home in the Hart addition, which had been completed but a few days before he was taken ill.
No death which has occurred in Basin since the writer came here has caused more genuine regret than that of F. H. Whitmore. He had no enemy. He walked as nearly in the footsteps of the Master, whom he faithfully and loyally served throughout the years of his residence in Basin, as it is possible for a man to do. He was a faithful and tireless workere in the Methodist church of which he had been a member nearly all of his life, and during a number of years headed the list of financial supporters of the local organization.
So well had he done his work as he had seen it to do, that htere is a universal expression of regret that one who had striven so long and to such purpose could not live to enjoy the fruits of the difficulties thorugh which he had safely brought his family.
He was a loyal member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Basin Chamber of Commerce and the Live Wire Club, had had a part in every movement for the upbuiliding of the town, in wich he took a deep interest, and had teh respect of every man, woman and child with who he had been associated.
He is survived by his wife and vhildren, his aged parents, who still live at Oakdale, three brothers and one sister
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 this afternoon from the Methodist church sith the local lodge IOOF in charge.-- Basin (Wyo.) Rustler
