Ellen Tapner was baptised on 30th October 1825 at South Bersted in Sussex, daughter of Mary Tapner, formerly Grant, and her husband Thomas Tapner, an agricultural labourer. She appears in the 1841 census living with her mother, who was working as a beer retailer, at Sea Houses in the town of Bognor (which was in the parish of South Bersted). Ellen has yet to be researched after 1841.
