Facts and Events
Recollections from her niece Cecile: Aunt Betty married a man named Maurice Anderson(?), whom she had met when he was a lifeguard at their swim club in New Jersey. They moved to England and had a daughter Jill Penny. During WWII, they sent Jill to live with Maurice's parents in South Africa for safety. After the war, they stayed in England and left Jill to be raised by her grandparents. In the meantime, they had another daughter Victoria. Jill grew to resent her parents and sister, and seldom saw them even after they all moved to South Africa. Betty outlived Maurice by a decade or two. Cecile visited Betty and her daughters in South Africa a couple of times (probably in 1980s/90s), and kept in touch with Jill in Christmas cards. Jill married and lived in a nice house on a large property. Vicky lived with her mother in a bare shack on the corner of a ranch, across a field from the town where Gary Player was from (or lived?). By 2018, she hadn't heard from Jill in a couple of years, and had a card returned that had been mailed 7 years earlier; she suspects that Jill passed away. Image Gallery
