Facts and Events
Name Elizabeth Sutton
Gender Female
Birth? 1770 New Jersey, United States
Marriage 1790 New Jersey, United Statesto David Cummins
Death? 1816 West Flamborough (township), Wentworth, Ontario, Canada

Elizabeth was named in the 1797 will of her grandfather, Jonas Sutton, in Sussex County New Jersey. He specifically excluded her (a daughter of his deceased son, William) from a cash inheritance (S1).

Elizabeth was named as a wife of David Cummins in the division of the land in Knowlton Township in the estate of her father, William Sutton, which was registered in the Sussex County Courthouse on October 25 1816 (S2).

It is probable however that she had died in Upper Canada before the division was registered because we have David Cummins and his then wife Christeen (or Christine) inheriting part of his father's estate in Sussex County New Jersey in 1815.

Elizabeth's early death is confirmed by the fact that neither Elizabeth nor her husband, David Cummins, was named in her mother's 1818 will although Elizabeth's two daughters, Mary and Hannah Cummins, were named as grandchildren of Anne Hawkins-Sutton-Freeman (S3)
