Case, Heritage Books, 1992, Book A Sussex Co, NJ Marriages (1795-1853) The first marriage license act in NJ requiring license bonds to be filed in the Secretary of State’s office was passed in 1719. This was practically law until 16 Feb 1795, when bonds were no longer required, although some were filed as late as 1800.
