Picture of tombstone taken 12 May 2002. According to the 1860 Clinton Co., Indiana census, she was born in Ohio. According to the 1880 Clinton Co., Indiana census, both of her parents were born in Virginia. According to the 1910 Clinton Co., Indiana census, both of her parents were born in Indiana. Her obituary (Frankfort Crescent, 13 Sep 1912, p.3) reads: "At an early hour Sunday morning at the family home at Scircleville, occurred the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Scott, her death being due to the infirmities of old age, she having been in ill health for some years. The deceased was born in Decatur county, Indiana, but had been a resident of this county since she was a young girl. She was 90 years and twenty days of age, being the second oldest woman in the county. Her husband, Isaac Scott, aged 97 years, survives her together with the following children: Luke Scott, Ristine Scott, Mark Scott, William Scott, Mrs. Mary Griggs, Mrs. Victoria Wade, of this city and Aris Scott who is at home. Mrs. Scott had been a faithful member of the Baptist church for over three-quarters of a century and up until her health failed she had taken an active interest in church work. She was well known in the eastern part of the county. Mrs. Samuel Powers is a niece of the deceased. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Baptist church, the Rev. Ricketts conducting the services with interment at the cemetery close by the church."
