Elizabeth McElhaney is listed as a daughter of Maj. John McElhaney (1751-1806) by some researchers, but Elizabeth is cleary too old to have been his daughter. She is a sister of John McElhaney and daughter of Robert McElhaney (abt. 1725-1799) of Augusta and Rockbridge Counties, Virginia. Elizabeth likely died before 1786, when her husband John Milliken married his second wife Isabella Doak. She is understandably not listed in the 1799 will of her father Robert McElhaney. Elizabeth is listed as the daughter of Robert McElhaney in her marriage bond with John Milliken in Rockbridge County.
